Nausea and vomiting combated with Cannabis

In many cases, cannabis can relieve nausea more effectively than prescription medications.

Cannabidiol (CBD) reduces nausea by interacting with serotonin receptors.

WHAT IS NAUSEA?

Nausea and vomiting are the body's protective defense mechanisms, and short-term episodes can be therapeutic, although miserable. What happens if the nausea is not brief? What if it is an unavoidable side effect, or chronic, with no obvious relief?

If there is no clear trigger for nausea, a patient should work with their doctor to uncover the underlying problem, especially if nausea does not resolve within a day or two, as this may be a sign of more serious problems.

In many cases, cannabis can relieve nausea more effectively than prescription medications.

THC has been extensively studied for nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy; it may be very effective in treating nausea and vomiting in late-stage cancer that does not respond to other medications. According to studies conducted by researchers at the Tampa School of Medicine at the University of South Florida, USA, nausea and vomiting are the most common and often highly worrying symptoms in advanced cancer. Cannabidiol (CBD) reduces nausea by interacting with serotonin receptors. Cannabis can provide relief to patients suffering from nausea caused by chemotherapy, radiation, or other identifiable reasons. THC, CBD, and CBDA show promise in research laboratories and have already proven effective in the homes of experienced patients.
